The programme connects the foundations of the payments ecosystem with current topics such as Paytech, data, artificial intelligence, fraud prevention, product monetisation and digital transformation, enabling participants to assess developments and contribute more effectively to payment strategy and innovation.
The Payments in Digital Finance specialisation was created by CFTE and the Budapest Institute of Banking to help financial professionals understand how the payments sector is being reshaped by digital currencies, technology, regulation and changing consumer expectations. The programme is delivered online in English and consists of six concise, complementary courses.
Participants review the development of money and payment systems, the economic and social role of payments, monetary supply and settlement, and the emergence of virtual currencies, digital currencies and crypto-assets.
This module explains the main participants in the payment ecosystem, industry structure, payment infrastructure, global standards and the operational processes that connect customers, banks, payment providers and merchants.
Participants compare regulatory approaches in Europe, the United States and Asia and examine compliance, operational risk, cybersecurity, fraud, data protection and privacy within the payments environment.
The programme explores Paytech innovation and the role of data and artificial intelligence in improving customer experience, developing products and strengthening fraud detection and prevention.
Participants learn how payment products create value, how payment and customer data can be monetised responsibly, and how topics such as digital identity and ecosystem economics influence product design and profitability.
The final course brings the topics together and shows how financial institutions can use the payment ecosystem to shape strategy, modernise customer journeys and implement digital transformation initiatives.
The specialisation is designed for professionals who need both a strategic overview and a working understanding of the payments industry. It supports better decisions in product development, regulation, risk, technology investment, partnerships and business-model design.
